Summer Assignment 2021

For Summer 2021, you will be required to play The Summer Bucket List Challenge!

The goal is as follows: earn a minimum of 50 points by the first day of school and write one journal entry a week documenting your experience.

How do I play?

Complete any combinations of the following challenges to earn points. Points are awarded based on the level of time/effort involved in the activity. The game is designed to get you playing, creating, learning, talking, helping, bringing joy in many shapes and forms.

Do I have to do all of the activities?

Nope. You just have to earn 50 points! No one activity is absolutely required—however, you will notice that some activities are worth more points than others. Choose wisely!

Can some activities be repeated more than once?

Yes! These such activities are marked with an asterisk (*) below. They can be repeated as many times as you like.

What about the journal?

You are required to write a weekly journal entry detailing what you did during that time—this means about 3 entries for the entire summer. Written entries should be about half a page (example seen here). You can type your journal entries or write them by hand; whichever you prefer!

How many activities should I be doing per week?

It depends. Summer lasts till August 23, so if you want to earn an equal amount of points each week, that averages out to about 5-10 points per week. Keep in mind though, that some activities take a while, BUT earn you a lot of points! Once you get started, it’ll be easy to track—trust me.

is there a reading list for the summer?

Yes and no. You’ll see below that reading a novel at your grade can earn you 25 points! But is there a hard and fast reading list you MUST follow? No. However, I do have a recommended list of books to help you get started. Click here and here to see the list of titles.

what if I’ve already done some reading this summer? Can I count it for this assignment?

Yes! If you read a book the first week of summer, or did any other activities on the list before you received this assignment, PLEASE feel free to count them for points. Just remember to include your experience/reflection in your journal entries.

What if I have more questions?

Fear not! You may email me any time by visiting the ‘Contact’ page above and filling out the form.
